About Our Spices
WHAT ARE YOGURT MARINADE SPICES? +

Yogurt marinade spices are pre-measured packets of whole spices crafted to be mixed with plain yogurt. The combination becomes a marinade โ€” yogurt's lactic acid tenderizes the meat and pulls the spice flavors deep inside while it sits in the fridge. It's a centuries-old technique used across cuisines from India to Turkey to Greece.

Compared to the alternatives: dry rubs sit on the surface of the meat and don't penetrate. Bottled marinades penetrate slightly but usually contain sugar, preservatives, and seed oils. Yogurt marinades do both โ€” the yogurt's lactic acid pulls spice flavors deep into the meat while tenderizing it, with none of the junk.

What makes ours different: most seasonings are designed for one thing โ€” flavor. Our spices are crafted for flavor too, but they're made from 35+ whole ingredients like turmeric, ginger, garlic, oregano, cumin, and sumac that have been valued across cultures for centuries for their role in supporting overall wellness. Every packet contains 8-13 spices, each chosen for both its culinary character and its traditional significance.

ARE THESE SPICES SPICY? +

None of our blends are too spicy. They're flavorful, not fiery โ€” built around aromatic whole spices, herbs, and roots, not heat. That said, a few blends have a kick from ingredients like scotch bonnet, gochugaru, cayenne, or black pepper. Here's how they rank from most kick to least:

๐Ÿ”ฅ
A Gentle Kick
Jamaican โ€ข Korean
Scotch bonnet and gochugaru bring a gentle, smoky warmth. The most noticeable heat in our lineup, but still mild by any standard.
๐Ÿช”
Hint Of Kick
Thai ยท Indian ยท Peruvian ยท Turkish
White pepper, chili flakes, cayenne, and aji amarillo add a background tingle โ€” more glow than burn.
โ˜€๏ธ
Barely There Kick
Moroccan
Any warmth comes from ginger, cinnamon, or a touch of pepper. Cozy, not spicy.
๐ŸŒฟ
Zero Kick
Greek ยท Lebanese ยท French
Clean, bright, herbal, and lemony. Zero kick. The gentlest blends in the collection.

Bottom Line: if you can handle black pepper on your dinner, you can handle any blend we make.

WHICH SPICES SHOULD I START WITH? +

If you want bold and approachable: Korean or Greek. If you want the most complex flavor: Thai (13 ingredients). If you want the most balanced wellness profile: Turkish โ€” it contains turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, oregano, and black pepper. If you want heat: Korean, Jamaican or Indian. If you want something unique: Peruvian or Lebanese. If you want smoky and warm: Jamaican โ€” scotch bonnet, allspice, and cinnamon with a Caribbean soul. If you want herbal and clean: French โ€” rosemary, thyme, and oregano straight from the countryside.

Nutrition Information
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF THESE SPICES? +

Every packet of spices is made from whole spice ingredients that have been used in traditional wellness practices for centuries. Turmeric and ginger are traditionally valued for supporting a healthy inflammatory response. Cumin and cardamom are associated with digestive comfort. Oregano and thyme are recognized for their high antioxidant content. Capsaicin-rich peppers like gochugaru, cayenne, and scotch bonnet have been valued for their warming, energizing properties and their role in supporting healthy metabolism. Garlic is one of the most traditionally-valued ingredients for supporting cardiovascular and immune health.

The specific bioactive compounds responsible โ€” curcumin (from turmeric), gingerols (from ginger), rosmarinic acid (from rosemary), capsaicin (from chili peppers), allicin (from garlic), piperine (from black pepper), and many more โ€” are what traditional cultures have valued for centuries. We've published a detailed guide explaining each compound, its traditional use, and which blends contain it. Read our full ingredients guide โ†’

We don't make medical claims โ€” but when you cook with 35+ whole ingredients rooted in ten global traditions and trusted for centuries, your meals are doing more for you than just tasting good.

HOW MUCH SODIUM AND SUGAR IS IN THESE SPICES? +

Sodium ranges from 405mg (French) to 710mg per tablespoon across most blends. Our Turkish blend is higher at 1,770mg โ€” we're exploring ways to bring that number down without losing the flavor.

Sugar: seven of our ten blends contain zero sugar. The three exceptions use small amounts of traditional sugars authentic to their cuisines: Korean (1.56g raw sugar), Jamaican (1.8g brown sugar), and Turkish (3g jaggery powder). For reference, a tablespoon of ketchup contains about 4g of sugar.

Full per-tablespoon details for all ten blends are on our Nutrition Information page.

ARE THESE SPICES ORGANIC? +

Some of our ingredients are organic, but not all โ€” and we want to be upfront about why. Many of the whole spices we use, especially specialty ingredients like galangal, gochugaru, sumac, aji amarillo, and scotch bonnet, simply aren't available in certified organic supply at the quality and consistency we require. We'd rather use the highest-quality version of a spice than a lower-quality version with an organic label.

Where organic is available without compromising quality, we use it. But we'll never slap "organic" on our packaging unless every ingredient qualifies โ€” and we won't reformulate our blends with inferior ingredients just to get the certification.

What we can promise: every ingredient is whole, natural, and recognizable. No preservatives, no artificial flavors, no anti-caking agents, no fillers. You can read every ingredient on the label and know exactly what it is.

ARE THESE SPICES VEGAN / KETO / WHOLE30 COMPATIBLE? +

All blends are vegan, dairy-free, and contain no preservatives or artificial anything. Nine of the ten are gluten-free โ€” the exception is our Lebanese blend, which contains za'atar that may have traces of wheat. Seven blends are completely sugar-free and keto/Whole30 compatible. Korean (raw sugar), Turkish (jaggery powder), and Jamaican (brown sugar) contain small amounts of traditional sugar. The yogurt marinade method adds dairy, so if you're dairy-free, use olive oil instead. See full details on our Nutrition Information page.

ARE THESE SPICES GLUTEN-FREE AND ALLERGEN-FRIENDLY? +

Nine of our ten blends are gluten-free and made with all-natural, high-quality ingredients. The exception is our Lebanese blend, which contains za'atar that may have traces of wheat, nuts, and sesame seeds. All blends are made in a facility that processes some allergens. See full details on our Nutrition Information page.

How To Use Our Spices
HOW DO I USE THESE SPICES? +

One packet makes yogurt marinade for 2 lbs of meat โ€” just mix with yogurt and you're ready.

Mix 1 packet with yogurt. Coat your meat thoroughly. Toss it in the fridge for at least 3 hours (overnight is ideal). Cook it however you want and dig in. You can't go wrong! For more details, visit our One Minute Recipe guide.

WHY SHOULD I USE YOGURT? +

Yogurt is the marinade VIP! It naturally tenderizes meat (especially chicken) while forcing those flavors deep inside and keeping everything juicy during cooking.

But there's a wellness reason too โ€” yogurt is rich in live cultures that are active throughout the marinating process, plus calcium and protein. Research suggests that even after cooking, heat-treated cultures continue to support gut health through beneficial postbiotic compounds. When you combine cultured dairy with whole spices like turmeric, ginger, and cumin, you're using the same preparation method that traditional cuisines from India to Turkey to Greece have relied on for centuries. Use whole milk yogurt for best results.

WHAT IF I DON'T EAT YOGURT? +

No problem! Use olive oil in place of yogurt. You'll get the same great flavor and convenience, though you'll miss the tenderization and yogurt's gut health benefits. It'll still taste great and you'll get all the benefits of the spices. Learn more about our dairy-free method โ†’

WHAT TYPE OF MEAT WORKS BEST? +

Any meat you've got! Chicken, beef, pork, lamb, fish โ€” they all explode with flavor when you marinate them with our spices.

HOW DO I APPLY THE MARINADE TO MEAT? +

Get in there! Coat the meat evenly and thoroughly โ€” every nook and cranny. The more coverage, the better the flavor.

HOW LONG SHOULD I MARINATE THE MEAT? +

At least 3 hours, but overnight in the fridge is where the magic happens. The longer it marinates, the better it tastes.

DO I WIPE OFF THE MARINADE BEFORE COOKING? +

Nope! Leave it on. The marinade keeps your meat moist and locks in all that flavor while it cooks.

CAN I FREEZE MARINATED MEAT? +

Absolutely. Freeze it for up to 1 month. Just thaw it in the fridge before cooking, and never re-freeze once it's thawed.

CAN I COOK WITH LEFTOVER MARINADE? +

If it's touched raw meat, don't reuse it. Safety first!

Shipping & Packaging
WHERE IS MY PACKAGE? +

Once your order ships, you'll receive an email with a tracking link. That tracking link shows the same delivery information we have on our end โ€” we don't have access to any additional details beyond what's in the tracker. If your package appears delayed or hasn't moved in a few days, please contact the courier directly (usually USPS). Your local post office can look into delivery issues faster than we can, since they have access to local routing and carrier details. If the package is confirmed lost, please contact us.

CAN I BUY FEWER THAN 5 PACKETS? +

Our smallest bundle is the 5-packet Sampler at $39 with free shipping. Shipping fewer than 5 packets costs us roughly the same as shipping five โ€” same envelope, same label, same handling fees.

The shipping costs make the economics impossible for us to offer fewer than 5 packets at a price that would feel fair to you and would be fair to our business.

Five packets isn't a lot to commit to โ€” it's five different cuisines and five different dinners. The spices stay fresh for 24 months when stored in a cool, dry place, so there's plenty of time to enjoy them at your own pace.

WHAT IS YOUR SHIPPING AND RETURN POLICY? +

We offer free shipping on every order within the continental USA. Orders in Hawaii and Alaska incur a $25 shipping fee. All orders are shipped within 48 hours from New York to keep things fresh. All orders are final but, if you're unhappy, contact us and we'll try to make it right.

ARE YOU USING SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING? +

Yes! Our spice packets are made from 100% compostable kraft paper and plant-based PLA โ€” commercially compostable and safe in landfills. Our labels are 100% post-consumer waste kraft paper. Our mailer envelopes use recycled macerated padding and are fully recyclable. No plastic anywhere in your order โ€” even the packet windows are plant-based. Learn more about our packaging โ†’
